InnerSpace Study: Effect of Synbiotics on Metabolic Health later...
The nutrition we receive during early life lays the foundation for health in later life. Through our research, we seek to better understand how nutrition impacts growth, development and body composition in preterm and term infants, toddlers and mothers-to-be. We also examine the role of nutrition in the management of inborn errors of metabolism, where the body is unable to metabolise certain nutrients that are essential to life. We use these insights to develop nutritional products that will enable not only the best possible start in life but also help children fulfill their future potential.
“The quality of nutrition matters and deserves more attention both for mother and infant throughout the first 1000 days, taking into account the specific needs along this journey. This will help to secure an optimal start in life and reduce the risk of later disease. Actually it sets the stage not only for the next generation but also for generations thereafter.”
