This paper investigates the effects of protein and energy-enriched infant formulas to help critically ill infants reach nutritional targets earlier and promote anabolism. The authors conclude that administering a protein and energy-enriched formula can improve the infantsĀ“ nutrient intake and energy and nitrogen balance without having adverse reactions.
