Danone # 14 in FORTUNE Top 50 list of Fortune Change the World companies

Danone is ranked #14 of Fortune’s first ever “Change the World” Top 50 companies worldwide that are doing well by doing good. Danone is considered to be the 3rd company in the world with the greatest impact on public health and nutrition.

This selection aims to put a spotlight on the top 50 global companies who, as part of their competitive strategy have made a sizeable impact on major global social or environmental challenges. This purpose has been part of Danone’s DNA as Danone has historically always aimed to associate, both economic and social prosperity.

With 900 million consumers worldwide, Danone has a potentially significant “social footprint” through its mission: “bringing health through food to as many people as possible”. Danone’s business strategy is to focus on categories that make a positive contribution to a balanced diet. 86% of Danone’s 2014 sales were generated in healthy categories based on official public health recommendations (waters, early life nutrition, medical nutrition and fresh dairy products). In 2014, Danone conducted 199 awareness programs, with a potential reach of 490 million of people.

Beyond selling food and beverage products, Danone invests in research to gain a good understanding of local eating practices and specificities that are key to promote a balanced diet and to offering healthier products based on local nutritional needs, product availabilities, lifestyles, recipes and cultures. This recognition of our unique model is a wonderful addition to our existing ranking as #1 on the ATNI (Access To Nutrition Index)”.
