Faltering Growth

Faltering growth related to disease is a common paediatric problem with many potential short- and long-term consequences for growth and development. The reported prevalence in paediatric patients ranges from about 5% to 50%; those at highest risk are below the age of five.1,2 The causes of disease-related faltering growth are multi-factorial, however the most common cause is an inadequate nutritional intake, especially of energy, protein and micronutrients. Danone Research & Innovation aims to deliver optimal nutrition to support the growth, development and health of children with diseases experiencing faltering growth.
